President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michael Randrianirina, met with former Presidents Marc Ravalomanana and Hery Rajaonarimampianina at the State Palace in Iavoloha on Monday, July 27, for high-level discussions on key national issues. According to the Presidency, the meeting reflects the government’s commitment to involving experienced political leaders in addressing Madagascar’s major challenges.
The discussions focused on a range of matters of national importance, allowing the three leaders to exchange their perspectives and analyses. The Presidency stated that the meeting took place “in a spirit of fraternity,” with all participants emphasizing the need to pursue solutions that serve the best interests of both the nation and the Malagasy people.
The Presidency also noted that such consultations would ideally take place within a permanent institutional framework bringing together former heads of state. In the absence of such a body in Madagascar, these meetings are being held directly at the Presidential Palace to encourage dialogue and cooperation among leaders who have previously governed the country.
The initiative comes as the Refoundation authorities continue to promote national dialogue and political consultation in support of ongoing reforms. By engaging two former elected presidents, President Michael Randrianirina seeks to encourage constructive discussions on Madagascar’s political, economic, and institutional priorities while fostering a spirit of unity.
Beyond its symbolic significance, the meeting could pave the way for more regular consultations between the current administration and former heads of state.
